My blog used to be called, “Grace and Space.” I changed it about a year ago to “Grace and Life.” But I like the story that gave me the first title, so I’m keeping it, even though it’s a little out of sync now. The sentiment is still the same.
I am a woman seeking serendipity, unexpected pleasure, small comforts, joys of life, big and small…all grace notes that make the trip more meaningful. Life is challenging, but grace can make all the difference!
The title of my blog, “Grace and Space,” comes from this little story:
A few years ago, when my son was 21 and we were having difficulties transitioning through some young adult issues, I had an epiphany one day: he needed grace from me, and I needed space from him…he needed space to be allowed to work out his issues. That phrase has continued to have a useful place in my life, as I often feel that I either need these gifts for myself (from others) or I need to extend these gifts. Like most catchy phrases, it’s easy to say, more difficult to do in the grip of the moment, whatever the issue, and whomever the others involved.
The point of this blog is recognizing that there are many grace notes in life…some come from and through others, some just seem to be gifts that appear when needed, and bring a smile, comfort, hope, or perhaps understanding. Recording life’s joys may seem unnecessary. But I believe that when I consciously mark positives in my life, I increase their power. I can appreciate joys more fully by acknowledging and being grateful for the gift I’ve received.
Many things bring a smile to my face: my children, my grandchildren, a good book, a moving quote, a phone call or email from a friend, comfort food, shopping in a favorite store, sunshine…grace is all around us, in many forms. We only have to open our eyes to see, and our spirits to receive.
Hello Sheila
Thanks for the follow! How have you been and how’s your blog doing?
I don’t know if you know that I moved my blog to a self-hosted platform. This has prevented me from connecting with WordPress bloggers like I used to. I would still like to remain in contact with your blog. Do you have an RSS feed I can subscribe to?
If you would still like to follow my blog, may I add you to my mailing list? I send out one email per day with all the blogs posted for the day including blogging tips. You can also unsubscribe at any time if you feel you want to stop receiving the emails. If you are happy for me to subscribe you, please send me your email address.
Also, I created a blogger tips group to connect with all my long last WordPress blogger friends, and to help all of us to learn from each other. I would love for you to share your knowledge in the group and connect with other bloggers. Here’s the link:

Hi Sheila. Seems we’re both in the Blogging 201 group and today’s suggestion was to find a blogging buddy to perhaps guest post with. I’ve been scrolling through the blogroll and you seem to be more like my blogging theme. I even recognize a couple of folks who’ve liked your posts that stop by my place time to time. Let me know if you might be interested. I’m not entirely sure of what it entails but perhaps we could figure this out. Thanks for your consideration. Oh, and sons, I have one of those 😉

Hi Debby! Thanks for your comments. I would enjoy doing a guest post exchange!
I should explain, I’ve been derailed with the blogging challenge, and am spending the next day or so trying to make up for being out of touch and largely off line this past week!
If you’re still interested, let’s make it happen. I apologize for being so slow to reply, just a chaotic week! ~ Sheila

Thank you so much! How sweet of you to say that!
I am happy to accept, with one caveat: I am behind on fulfilling requirements of blog awards. I feel badly about it, but there it is! I have good intentions of fulfilling my “pay it forward” opportunities…I’m just slow to put together posts of this sort. But I will check out the guidelines, and add these to my list. I look forward to visiting your site! Thanks again! ~ Sheila

I like it when you said: “But I believe that when I consciously mark some positive thing in my life, I increase its power.” Gratitude brings us closer to the source where the good things came from. And this gratitude thinking increases its resonance. Stay happy!

Thank you Monica! I read so much about the power of gratitude, and I like the way I feel when I recognize that I’m feeling gratitude for something or someone in my life. It makes me realize that, whether I have done anything to deserve goodness or not, I’m receiving something good, whether in the form of an experience, thing, or a relationship. Such a wonderful feeling, to appreciate the goodness of life in the moment! Thank you for stopping by my blog, sorry for the delay in responding, I’ve been on the road a bit and not posting/checking comments in the past couple of weeks. I’ll be by to check out your blog soon! ~ Sheila

Clearly I’m behind in my responses as well! Simple pleasures: sitting in the sun, being in the woods, creating with sidewalk chalk, playing Capture the Flag, dancing, watching the sunset, sunrise, moonrise, and definitely agree with you on the family/friends, wonderful food and music! 🙂
